The new Gabbiani GT2 beam saw with robot
The Italian technology supplier, SCM Group’s Wood Division, has named a series of strategic initiatives that will be further empowered in 2023. Autostore is a fully automated spare parts warehouse, and an e-commerce platform for the integrated sale of machines, spare parts and services.
The service has already been launched in Italy and the US, and will be extended to other international markets in 2023.
According to Mr Pietro Gheller, Product and Markets Director at SCM Group’s Wood Division, SCM’s Rimini facility has set up an automatic warehouse that manages 30,000 items in 900 square metres on 13 storage levels, with 24,000 modular boxes with a loading capacity of up to 30 kg each, and 19 robots for pick-up operations.
Autostore is enabling SCM to offer a more efficient, value-added service for its woodworking customers. “The commissioning of Autostore has resulted in a 26% increase in orders handled in 2022, shipping times that are five times faster, and a double-digit increase in the turnover of our spare parts business alone,” Pietro said.
The Smart&Human Factory, a system of flexible, modular cells; the Gabbiani GT-2 beam saw cell, the versatile Morbidelli CX220 drilling cell, and innovations for edge banding from the Olimpic and Stefani stables will join SCM’s integrated solutions for surface treatment.
Pietro went on to emphasize that SCM’s technological innovations will continue to focus on the entire woodworking sector and to satisfy all processing requirements, as can be seen at the next edition of Ligna (in Hannover, Germany, 15-19 May 2023).
At DelhiWood, Indian furniture manufacturers can meet the SCM team and explore all the latest woodworking innovations.
The SCM Group clocked a record turnover of approximately 850 million Euros and an order portfolio worth more than 800 million Euros. This allows the company to approach 2023 with confidence despite supply chain uncertainties and complexities and the soaring costs of energy and raw materials.
In the year 2022, SCM launched more than 40 R&D projects featuring new product or range launches; and administered 77,000 hours of training to employees, dealers and customers. The SCM Group added 20,000 square metres of floor space to its machine manufacturing sites in Rimini, Vigolzone and Zogno.
