This year Leitz GmbH celebrated 25 years of the establishment of Leitz Tooling Systems India. To meet its goal of ‘Make in India’ and to make the country an exporter of advanced ‘smart’ tools, its wholly owned subsidiary in India was included as a ‘Global Production Hub’ of Leitz.

Dr. Cornelia Brucklacher, Chairwoman of the Advisory Board and shareholder in Leitz GmbH, recently officially opened the design and upgraded manufacturing facility in Peenya Industrial Estate, Bengaluru.

Suresh Balakrishnan, Executive Director of Leitz Tooling System, India, and Christian Zahn, Managing Director and COO of Lietz, welcomed several industry stalwarts, engineers, businessmen and Leitz distributors to the function.

Leitz India offers its customers complete and comprehensive support in terms of selection of tools to meet their specific requirements through its team of sales and application engineers, and service support for tungsten carbide and poly-crystalline diamond (PCD) tools to the exacting standards expected of the global leader in tooling.

The company has a wide range of standard tools in stock, to readily meet customer requirements. The facility in Bengaluru also designs and manufactures customised tooling solutions to suit the local market, including brazed profile cutters and special profile shank tools.

In addition to its head office and production and service centre in Bengaluru, Leitz has an extensive sales network with dealers across the country, as well as Service Centres in Delhi NCR (Noida), Navi Mumbai and Nagpur (Maharashtra), Yamunanagar (Haryana), Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) and Ahmedabad (Gujarat).

These service centres undertake re-sharpening, re-tipping and aligning of saw blades, hoggers, routers, hinge borers, drills, profile cutters, planer knives, shank tools, etc., collecting and delivering tools restored to ‘as-good-as-new’ to customers, in the shortest possible time frame.
