Cradlewise co-founders Radhika and Bharath Patil (L) have designed a solution that feels natural to babies and offers peace of mind to parents. App-based insights (R) help parents understand sleep trends.
In today’s fast-paced world, parents juggle multiple responsibilities while ensuring their baby gets the best care. Sleep deprivation is one of the biggest challenges new parents face, and one of the leading causes for post-partum depression for a mother.
Cradlewise helps solve this by offering a proactive, tech-enabled solution that mimics a parent’s soothing touch. Cradlewise, one of the world’s first ‘smart’ cribs powered by artificial intelligence (AI), has officially arrived in India.
Endorsed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who now uses it for his own child, the launch reflects how Indian innovation is setting new benchmarks in design-led baby care technology.
The crib was conceived during the Covid-19 pandemic by Radhika and Bharath Patil, alumni of the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, who experienced first-hand the challenges of early parenthood. Their approach placed design and empathy in the forefront, creating a product that adapts to each baby’s sleep patterns.
By integrating sensors, motion mechanics, and real-time monitoring into a seamless unit, the crib anticipates needs rather than reacting to them, transforming infant sleep into an experience that feels both intuitive and considerate.
Design is central to the Cradlewise philosophy. Gentle automatic soothing mimics a parent’s touch, AI-enabled monitoring tracks breathing and movements without wearables, and app-based insights help parents understand sleep trends.
The crib also integrates a baby monitor and sound machine, reducing clutter and offering peace of mind. Guided by medical advisors from Harvard Medical School and Stanford University, its development balances aesthetic appeal with scientific rigor, ensuring both safety and functionality.
“We wanted to design a solution that feels natural to babies while offering peace of mind to parents,” says Radhika Patil, Co-founder & CEO of Cradlewise. “Our focus was to create a product that is intuitive and empathetic, and blends effortlessly into modern homes.”
Available in India at ₹1,59,900, the crib represents the company’s next step in global expansion, carrying forward its vision of merging design, science and AI to redefine how parents and babies experience rest.
Cradlewise has already been recognized by Time magazine and has supported families in the US and Canada with over 30 million hours of restful sleep. For more information, visit www.cradlewise.com.
